You can see approximately how much hard drive space has been used in the Project Settings menu. For a more accurate read, go to the "Record" menu and check the amount of time remaining.

Below are estimates of how much video can be stored on different sized drives:

80 gig drive- 5 hours
120 gig drive- 8.3 hours
160 gig drive- 10 hours
200 gig drive- 14.3 hours
250 gig drive- 17 hours

(Note: The addition of CB Paint may reduce available space by around 10%.)

This is usually a keyboard problem.

1. Make sure nothing is sitting on the keyboard.

2. Turn the machine off and disconnect the keyboard. Then reboot. Confirm that you can access your menus again. If you can, then go ahead and re-connect the keyboard. It should work properly now.

This seems to be caused by a corrupt scene somewhere in the machine. Here is something to try:

Go to the Finish window.

Set RECORD TO VCR to DV and click on CREATE.

This will usually fix the problem.

In some cases, an Update with the System Software card will solve the problem.

To Update, turn the Casablanca off.

Insert your System Software card and turn the machine back on.

Choose English when prompted for language choice.

When asked "With an Install, the projects will remain current. Do you want to start Installation?", choose YES. (With older software versions, you will get a screen with a choice of INSTALLATION or UPDATE. Choose Update.)

Follow the prompts to finish the Update.

If the Update does not solve the problem, a full Install should solve the problem. Save all of your current projects, clips, and audio samples to tape before Installing, as the hard drive will be erased.

To perform a full INSTALL:

Turn off the Casablanca.
Insert the System Software card and turn on the Casablanca.

Choose English when prompted for language choice.

When asked "With an Install, the projects will remain current. Do you want to start Installation?", choose NO.

When asked "Do you want to Install and newly set up your hard disk?" choose YES. (With older software versions, you will get a screen with a choice of INSTALLATION or UPDATE. Choose Installation.)

Follow the screen prompts to delete and reformat the drive.

If you purchase one of these models, we can provide you with the driver (Card Drive software) you will need to use it with the Casablanca. You must have Casablanca Photo Studio or Photo Transfer Software in order to use the card reader.

If the footage stops during output, it is most likely a clip issue. Go to the clip where the play stops and remove that clip from the storyboard. If it plays through now, you just need to reload that clip from the source. If it doesn't, put that clip back up in the storyboard and check each clip to the right of that in the storyboard until you find the clip that is having the issue and replace it. Also, make sure you don't have any transitions over a title, transitions over inserts, or transitions over effects.

Once you find the bad scene, there are three things you can try. First, you can try going to the NOP function under "Special" in the edit screen. This renders the scene and sometimes just doing this will fix the problem. This will create a new scene next to the old one. Delete the old scene and use this new one.

Next, you can just reload the footage. Finally, if nothing else works, you can go frame by frame in the scene to see if there is a bad frame in there and trim or split it out. This shouldn't be noticeable when viewed as there are sixty frames per second and editing out one or two will not make much of a difference.
