The Premium Pack is a software package that is specific to the Media Manager side of the Bogart operating system. It is not activated in the Install Product menu like the other Fonts, Effects, and Add-On packages. To activate the Premium Package you must go into the Media Manager menu. You will find the Media Manager button on the Main Menu of the Bogart OS.

1. Click on the Media Manager button (you will see Media Manager in its basic form the first time you open it).

2. Click on the little wrench icon which represents the main "Settings" menu.

3. Click on "Basics"

4. Click on "Install Product".

5. Scroll down to "Premium Package V 1.0" then click 'activate'

6. Enter the 12 digit license code for Premium Pack that was provided to you. Then click on "OK".

The fully featured Meda Manager software should now be active. The inner right click button on a 4-button trackball will always take you to the main menu on the Media Manager side if you happen to get lost. Please be sure to go over the manual before beginning with the Media Manager program. It will be like learning a whole new operating system. To exit back to Bogart, you can hit "0" on the keyboard or simply click on the icon for Bogart SE.

The Media Manager software has not been designed to work in the VGA mode at this time. You must use the single Video monitor mode or the single DVI monitor mode to work with Media Manager.

If you have material that is not AVCHD and it won't read on USB import side of a HD project in Bogart, then switch over to the Media Manager side of the system. On the main menu (system needs to have version 1.3c/2.0c or higher) of Bogart, click on "Media Manager". This will switch you over to the Media Manager program (remember Media Manager will only work in a single DVI or single analog mode at this time.)

In the Main Menu of Media Manager click on the Video Archives menu or #4. Make sure the digital card reader with the SD card or USB device containing the footage is connected.

1. In Video Archives, click on "Opt"

2. Click on #6 or "Universal player/Import"

3. Select the #5 or USB in the list as the method of Import.

4. The system should look for the device and read and list any files on it. Click on "OK" once it sees the device. The system will read from your USB device and list any files that it sees and recognizes. Now click on the red dot icon called "Import". 

5. It will list the files on the left side and on the right side would be clips you wish to store in Media Manager. On the left side of the screen should be an Add button marked as "Ok". Highlight each clip and click on this "OK" to add it or any other files to the right side list. 

6. Once you are done, look down at the bottom of the Import menu. Click on "Import" or #7 to take the items on the right side list and move them into Media Manager.

7. Now you can return back to the main menu of the Media Manager and then switch over to Bogart SE (#0) again.

8. On the main menu of Bogart SE, find the new menu called "Archives" and click on it.

9. Under the section called "Film Archives" will be an "import" button to select. Click on this to open the list of films added to the Media Manager. 

10. Checkmark any films you wish to add to Bogart and then click on "OK" to close the menu. 

11. The Import progress bar will go across and move the Media Manager AVCHD clips into Bogart.
You'll find them in the scene bin of the Edit menu.

Note in regards to AVCHD files: A couple of camera models that work with the AVCHD have worked with a direct connection with USB from the camera to the S4000 as opposed to using a digital card reader. You are welcome to try it out. If the system simply doesn't see the files on the direct connection, then save the data to a digital card (like an SDHC card) and read in via a digital card reader. You may have more success that way. 

In order to export from Media Manager, you must go into the Video Archives menu to prepare your output options. If you are using an external USB hard drive, it must be properly formatted in order to communicate. Here are the steps:

1. On the Main Menu of Media Manager, select #4 for Video Archives.

2. At the bottom of the screen, select the DVD button for "Export/Create/DVD.

3. The following menu is called Film Selection. If you have USB device connected, the system may default and see it and you can click "Ok" to allow this as your export device. Or it might not see a device because you haven't plugged one in yet. In that case, just "Cancel" to shut that indicator off. This Film Selection menu is where you determine three things: The type of medium you want to export to; the format you wish to use; and which files you wish to export. 

4. At the top, first choose your Media Destination (#3). This drop down menu will give you various choices for exporting to things like CD, DVD, or a USB/Firewire external drive. Choose the USB/Firewire option if you plan to go out to one (It may already be set here if the default recognized the USB device currently connected to the machine).

5. Next, to the right is the place where you choose the format you will use to export your files. Click on the "Opt" button to open this up. 

6. If you have chosen USB as your export medium, then at the bottom the option for format will be grayed out to "Export". If you were using a CD/DVD for a disc burn, then the Format menu would allow you to drop down and choose other options. At the bottom of this Options menu, you'll find a little button marked with three black lines. This button opens up your export format list. Go ahead and click on it.

7. You are now in the Device list/format menu. In the upper right corner, use the arrow keys to open up and see and display a manufacturer list or go inside a particular manufacturers format options. You'll likely use a format from the list found in "PC Files". 

8. Highlight the format you wish to use from the list, and then click the arrow for "Close". Now "Close" the Options menu.

9. Now that you've selected your medium and format, it's time to choose which files you wish to use. You'll see on the left side is the list of current files you've imported into Media Manager. Click on the "Ok" to Copy entry to right list. This will move that file over to the right side of the screen. Do this for each file you wish to save.

10. Once you have any file on the right side, down below the button for "Start Export" will be active (or it will read "Create DVD" if you were doing a disc burn). Be sure your USB device is connected to the machine. Then click the "Start Export" DVD button. 

11. This should start the export progress bar process and export your clip to your USB device. 

In regards, to export format types, we do not have a full list break down available, but we can list some for you. In the export list is a series of PC File types. Here are some of them:

Additional Tech Notes: There are other formats like You Tube AVI files for small and large types (640x480), and newer YouTube formats HD H264 and HD Mpeg4. If you're trying to upload to Youtube and don't want to use the Youtube formats listed in the currect export list, consider trying one of the smaller DivX formats. We might recommend the DivX HQ format. The data rate is only about 200 kilobytes per second and the image quality is acceptable. Conversion time is fairly close 1.5 (15 minutes for 10 minutes of material) depending on your system model. All of the DivX formats that the Media Manager offers should give you the Youtube HQ playback option (but only the FullHD and 720P formats will give you the HD option). The aspect ratio is maintained in any case.  

We don't have something like .wmv format (this is a proprietary Microsoft format) listed in our export list, but you should be able to use the DivX formats we offer. DivX has a good compatibility rate; even most DVD players can accept it. Older PCs and Macs may need a software add on in order to handle it, but it's usually just a set of drivers for the Media Player. Newer PCs and Macs should play the DivX files with no such add on software.

There is also Apple Ipod Touch formats for saving in .mov files. Other types of export files are based off of hundreds of different cell phone video formats based on the manufacturer and model. Some of these manufacturer brands listed in export section include phone video files for: Apple, Microsoft (Xbox 360 formats), Motorola, NEC, Nokia, Panasonic, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, Toshiba and many others. As well as other functions like "Extract MP3". This function allows you to take audio from video file and make Mp3 file of it.
